Career as an Electrician
An Inside Wireman primarily performs electrical construction work in commercial and industrial settings. This is a highly skilled person who completes a five-year apprenticeship while earning wages by working at a very diversified and respected job. This includes the planning and installation of complete electrical systems such as power, lighting controls, heating and air conditioning systems in all types of buildings including hospitals, schools, factories, power plants, and other structures. An electrician may also be called upon to install, connect and check electrical equipment or machinery. Inside Wiremen install conduit, electrical wiring, fixtures and electrical apparatus inside commercial buildings in a multitude of industrial settings. An electrician is not only mechanically inclined but must be a skilled technician as well.

The customer's electrical equipment to a power source. The Inside Wireman installs and maintains all of the various types of electrical systems found in commercial and industrial facilities. This equipment may be lighting, receptacles,motors,heating equipment, fire and security alarms, card access, transformers, controls, building automatation systems, and more.
The Inside Wireman also installs conduit systems that contain the wire from the motor control centers or panel boards to all of the equipment that uses electricity. Those conduits may contain power cables or control cables. Many of the conduit systems are exposed and must be installed to exacting standards using neat and workmanlike craftsmanship.
